Controlled Disbursement codes your checks with a unique routing transit number so you can review the total dollar amount of items being paid on a specific account. Controlled Disbursement starts at 12 pm ET each business day.

Essentials to know

  • There have been no changes made to your Controlled Disbursement process. You can continue to use your existing checks and your bank routing number. These checks will be honored for 180 days from transition.
  • Access your daily totals via our Same-Day Reporting feature in Commercial Advantage.

Yes. Your current checks will continue to be recognized by First Citizens for at least 180 days from transition.

You'll order new checks as you always have via self-service or at a local branch. To ensure the routing number is accurate, use the unique controlled disbursement routing number. The current routing number will continue to work, but you may wish to order new checks using the First Citizens routing number for Controlled Disbursement (53101286) to ensure swift processing.
