To request a mobile deposit limit increase for Digital Banking for consumers, contact us by visiting your local branch for drive-thru service or call us at 888-FC DIRECT (888-323-4732). Our service representatives are available from 8 am to 9 pm ET Monday through Friday and from 8 am to 8 pm ET Saturday and Sunday.

Digital Banking for business and Commercial Advantage customers, contact your Relationship Manager or the Business Engagement Center at 866-FCB-4BIZ (866-322-4249) from 8 am to 9 pm ET Monday through Friday.

People often ask us

Mobile deposit allows you to deposit checks from your Digital Banking or Commercial Advantage mobile banking app on your iPhone®, iPad® or Android™ app. Simply take a picture of the front and back of your endorsed check, then submit it for deposit to your First Citizens Banking checking, savings or money market account.

Our mobile check deposit will accept several check types.

Checks allowed for deposit include:

  • Personal, business and government checks payable in US dollars
  • Checks drawn on a US bank
  • Checks payable and endorsed by the account holder

Checks NOT allowed for deposit include:

  • US postal money orders and savings bonds
  • Foreign or international checks
  • Traveler's checks
  • Money orders
  • Convenience checks or checks drawn on a line of credit

Funds deposited using mobile check deposit will generally be made available within 3 business days from the day of deposit. However, availability of funds deposited may be delayed for a longer period under certain circumstances.

Deposits received and accepted by 9 pm ET on a business day we are open is considered to be received that day. Deposits received after 9 pm ET will be received on the next business day. Deposits are subject to verification and won't be available for immediate withdrawal. Deposits made using mobile check deposit aren't subject to the funds availability requirements of Regulation CC.

Yes. Digital Banking customers view previous deposits and status by navigating to the View Transfer Activity page in the Payments and Transfers navigation menu.

Commercial Advantage customers can view previous deposits and status by navigating to the Accounts Summary tab on the Homepage.

The minimum system requirements for our Digital Banking mobile banking apps include:

  • Current version of iOS and previous two versions (supported for iPhone® and iPad® devices)
  • Current version of Android and previous two versions (supported for Android™ devices)

The minimum system requirements for our Commercial Advantage mobile banking app includes:

  • iPhone 7 (2016) and beyond
  • iPad devices 2016 and beyond
  • All Android phone and tablet devices created by manufacturers with Android 10 and 11, Pie 9, and Oreo 8.0 operating systems with a Chrome browser

Note: Earlier versions of browsers and operating systems may still be able to access Digital Banking. However, certain features may not display or function correctly. Additional bug fixes and security enhancements may not be available on older versions. Experiences may differ across various browser, device and operating system combinations.

Once the check has been deposited successfully, you should keep the check in a safe place for 30 days. Once the deposit has been verified and the 30 days has elapsed, write "void" on the check and destroy it.

Yes. All checks should be properly endorsed prior to deposit.

There are no limits for the number of deposits you can make per day, as long as they don't exceed the daily or monthly deposit amount limits.

For Digital Banking for consumers, all mobile deposits are free.

For Digital Banking for business customers, the first 10 deposits per month are free and then a charge of $0.50 per mobile deposit is applied.

For Commercial Advantage customers, the first 10 items per month are free and then a charge of $1 per item deposited is applied.

First Citizens does not charge fees to download or access First Citizens Digital Banking, including the First Citizens mobile banking app. Mobile carrier fees may apply for data and text message usage. Check with your carrier for more information. Fees may apply for use of certain services in First Citizens Digital Banking.
