Processing a Wire Transfer

Processing a Wire Transfer

In this video, you'll learn how to create and submit a free-form wire transfer.

Start by moving your mouse over Payments & Transfers. Click Payment Management to open the Payment Center workspace.

On the Payment Center workspace, you'll find the Payments List View widget. You can see a number of different primary actions, like: Add a New Payment, Quick Entry, File Import, Print and Export.

Select Add a New Payment.

There are two options for making payments—the Select a Payment Type option is used for free-form entry and is selected by default.

Click the Select a Payment Type dropdown to see the free-form payment types you can create. For our exercise, we'll select Wire - Domestic.

Select Continue.

The navigate back button at the top left will take you back to the Payment Center workspace.

Payments entered on this screen are totaled and shown in the top right-hand corner and bottom of the screen for your reference.

Both the Originator and Beneficiary sections have mandatory fields, which must be completed to process the payment.

These fields are marked by a red asterisk.

The Additional Information collapsed sections are not required by the bank to process your payment.

These fields may be expanded if documentation is required for a particular payment.

Now that we've reviewed each section of the Wire screen, we'll start at the top and enter a new wire payment.

In the Account Number field you can type an account number or name, or select one from the dropdown.

You can also select an account by clicking the magnifying glass, which provides more visibility when searching through multiple accounts.

Once you've chosen the account for payment processing, you may enter the required Beneficiary Information manually or select an existing beneficiary using the magnifying glass.

If you enter Beneficiary Information manually in Address Line 1, City and Country fields will be required.

In the Value Date field, the earliest possible value date will be automatically selected.

If needed, you can enter a different value date or select one using the calendar icon—and then enter the Credit Amount.

If you're going to make repeated payments to the beneficiary, you can select the Save this payment as a template for future use checkbox.

Click Submit to submit the payment for approval, or choose Save for Later to save a draft of the payment.

A confirmation message will display indicating that the payment was submitted successfully.

If you have permissions to approve your own payments, you'll see the Approve option in the Actions menu.

If you don't have approve own permissions, another user with the proper permissions will have to approve it.
