1. Open Your New First Citizens Account

To get started, simply open your new First Citizens checking account, order your personalized checks and a Visa^® Check Card.

You can open your account at any of our convenient branch locations, or by calling 1.888.FC DIRECT (1.888.323.4732).

2. Move Your Direct Deposits to Your New Account

Once your checking account is opened, you will want to change any direct deposits to your new account. You will need to inform the companies who make direct deposits on your behalf to use the new account.

You can use a printable form to notify these companies of the change. Print one form for each direct deposit, fill it out and send it to the company making the deposit.

3. Move Your Automatic Withdrawals to Your New Account

You will need to change any automatic payments that are being drafted from your old account. Notify the companies making those drafts of the change in accounts.

4. Change Automatic Payments

Cancel any automatic payments from your former bank account. Balance your current checking account and your old checking account. Our Account Balance Worksheet will help you know what’s available for deposit into your new First Citizens account.

5. Close Your Old Account

Close your old checking account. You can use the Account Closing Authorization Form to notify your previous bank that you are closing your account and having the funds directed to your new First Citizens account.

6. Sign Up for Online Banking and free Bill Pay
